Dayton Christian School is seeking an Intervention Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. This individual will assist students with disabilities by designing and implementing an educational, social/emotional, and/or behavioral program that will enable the student to reach his/her fullest academic, physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral potential. Additionally, the Intervention Specialist will work as part of the educational team on behalf of the student with general education teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure that the students with disabilities are educated in the least restrictive environment.
Essential Functions:
- Provides educational services for students enrolled in the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship (JPSN) program through the direction of the Director of Special Education and the JPSN guidelines/law.
- Provides an educational program for students as defined in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Services Plan (ISP).
- JPSN and IEP students may need additional pull out for instruction, in which the Intervention Specialist will be in charge of, but not limited to: coordinating schedules, gathering instructional materials and developing lessons, recording and reporting data to parents, home districts and the JPSN program office.
- May provide educational support for students on 504 Accommodation Plans through the American with Disabilities Act or those students who need intervention through Response to Intervention and/or the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) program models.
- Works cooperatively with general education teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of the student, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curriculum as necessary, making accommodations for students in the general education setting, and assisting the student with the general education class assignments.
- Assesses students with appropriate diagnostic instruments; evaluates student’s progress through the utilization of established procedures.
- Develops lesson plans for and teaches self-contained small group and/or co-taught classes in subjects identified by the IEP, using the state approved academic content standards as the guide.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain an effective classroom management system; provide for special behavioral needs of individual students by developing behavior management plans; and document/report all significant behavior concerns.
- Communicates regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of students.
- Assists students with special needs in assessing his/her abilities and in establishing educational, social, behavioral, and/or vocational occupational goals based on his/her abilities.
- Administers district and state assessments including alternate assessment and accommodations needed by identified students.
- Participates as a member of the Special Education Team as directed by the Director of Special Education.
- Participates in evaluation planning meetings, Education Team Review meetings, IEP meetings, and parent/teacher conferences.
- Assists the various districts of residence in the development and implementation of the IEP for each identified child, complimentary to his/her academic strengths/weaknesses as defined through the Evaluation Team Report and IEP process and general education standards.
- Completes necessary reports and record keeping as required by federal/state/local policies and procedures, including the data required by the district of residence of students.
- Participates in professional growth activities through staff development, in-service, workshops, and higher education.
- Assumes responsibility for non-instructional duties as assigned by the building administration, such as cafeteria duty, hall duty, crosswalk or bus duty.

Warrior Position Description:
DCS has openings for Substitute Teachers for the 2024/25 school year. We provide a Biblically-based curriculum and environment to instill the love of Christ and God’s Word. Our successful substitute teachers foster a safe and curious learning environment.
Warrior Qualifications:
Must be a born-again believer. Substitute teachers should have a bachelor’s degree and be willing to obtain a non-tax certificate. (DCS will guide you through the non-tax certificate process.) Candidates with flexibility in substituting for various grade levels and subjects is highly encouraged!

Warrior Position Description:
Our Athletic Coaches foster a safe and positive learning environment that builds the skill set and sense of teamwork needed to reach the God-given ability of each student-athlete under their supervision while simultaneously competing at a high level. On a weekly basis, they develop and implement practice and game strategies essential to the athlete’s success while adhering to all Dayton Christian School and Ohio Athletic Association standards and guidelines. Additionally, they consistently communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child’s holistic progress throughout the season. All of our Athletic Coaches possess the strong ability to integrate our shared Christian faith into daily practices and competitions.
Qualifications include being a born-again believer and having prior coaching experience, preferably in their particular sport. Applicants must also possess an active Ohio Coaching/Pupil Activity Permit before the beginning of each season they coach.
