Donations given to the Dayton Christian SGO are prioritized for tuition assistance to students who would otherwise not be able to attend a private Christian school. Simply said, it’s a win-win. Donors reduce the state taxes they owe by supporting an organization that advances the gospel through the next generation.

What is the Ohio Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) Tax Credit?
This program was established by the General Assembly to provide Ohioans a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit up to $750 annually to an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). An SGO provides private school scholarships to students in need.
A tax credit is an amount of money that reduces the dollar amount of taxes owed.
How is a tax credit more advantageous than a tax deduction?
A tax credit reduces your Ohio tax liability whereas a tax deduction reduces the amount of income that is subject to tax. Moreover, the money saved on a tax deduction can only be realized if a person itemizes their deductions on their federal tax return.
Do I have to give $750 to receive the tax credit?
No. You can donate any amount up to $750 as an individual or up to $1,500 as a couple filing jointly. The amount you donate is the amount you will claim on your state income tax filing.
Can I designate my donation to a specific student?
No. Money must be made to the SGO rather than a specific individual for it to qualify as a charitable donation.
Who are the recipients of the scholarship funds?
State of Ohio law mandates that students whose families qualify as low-income must be prioritized in the granting of scholarships.
