Our Need
Enrollment at Dayton Christian School has increased 76% in five years. This growth places greater demand on our campus’ space. An earlier facility feasibility study estimated that we could grow up to 1,500 students, but did not consider the demand we would face in needs outside the classroom. We lack the square footage for critical extracurricular needs including chapel, physical education, fine arts, and athletic programming.
A portion of our physical education classes take place in a faux gym that takes up 4,000-square-feet of educational space. The construction of an auxiliary gym would allow this space to be used as four more classrooms to meet enrollment projections for the next five to 10 years.
We also have a need to invest in a home track and soccer/football field for our athletic program. Currently, students drive up to 20 minutes away for practices and home games. This places student safety at risk and weakens our ability to grow as a community. Excellence in facilities – such as athletic fields – is extremely important given that up to 80 percent of our high school student body participates in the program each year.
