The Dayton Christian Athletic Department is proud to recognize and celebrate eight senior student-athletes who recently signed to play at the collegiate level. The annual signing day ceremony took place in the Warrior Center on Wednesday afternoon in front of family, friends, coaches, and teachers.
Congratulations to the following eight seniors who have signed to play intercollegiate athletics while pursuing an academic degree at an institution of higher education:
Ryan Edgerton has chosen to attend Owens Community College where he will study surgical technology and play baseball for the Express. Edgerton is a four year varsity letter winner. He is currently ranked #1 in the Metro Buckeye Conference with 32 stolen bases and 34 runs on the season. Edgerton anticipates being selected to his first all-conference baseball team later this month.
Madelyn Keenan has committed to playing tennis at Cedarville University and will study nursing. Keenan is a four year varsity letter winner in soccer, swimming, and tennis. She is the #3 singles player for the Warriors that holds a 15-3 season record, with signature program wins over Alter and Miami Valley School in 2021. Keenan was an all-conference second team selection in soccer and led the MBC with seven shutouts during the 2020 season. She is also a district qualifier in two swimming events and team captain.
Holly Garrett will attend Anderson University to study nursing and play soccer for the Ravens. Garrett is a two-time all-conference first team selection. She was selected to the MVSSCA all-area second team both her junior and senior years. She is a four year varsity letter winner and finished sixth in the Metro Buckeye Conference standings with 7 goals and 8 assists during the 2020 campaign. Garrett was a member of the 2020 MBC championship and district runner-up girls’ soccer team.
Evan Demoray plans to attend Calvin University to play basketball and study kinesiology. He is a three year varsity letter winner and served as captain for two years. He earned the MBC coaches award and sportsmanship award in 2021. Demoray finished tenth in the MBC with 33 total offensive rebounds and 66 defensive rebounds during the 2020-2021 campaign. Lauren Collins signed to play soccer at Taylor University where she plans to study exercise science. Collins was a member of the 2020 girls’ soccer district runner-up team that went 13-3-3. In 2020, she led the MBC with 24 goals and 13 assists. Collins is a three-time all-conference first team selection and was all-conference second team her freshman year. She was named to the MVSSCA all-area first team as a junior and senior. She is a four year varsity letter winner in soccer and three year letter winner in basketball.
Isabelle Blatz will attend the University of the Cumberlands to study early childhood education and run cross country & track and field for the Patriots. Blatz is a four year varsity letter winner in both cross country and track. Following the 2020 cross country season, she received the MBC sportsmanship award and was selected all-conference second team. Blatz was a member of the 2019 girls track district championship team. She recently set new PR’s in the 1600m and 3200m run!
Aliisa James has committed to run track and field at Ohio Wesleyan University and will study art education. James holds the school record for the 300 meter hurdles and was the district champion in that event as a freshman. She is a four year varsity letter winner in both soccer and track. James was selected all-conference first team in track (2019) and soccer (2020). She is also a two time all-conference second team soccer selection. James scored 20.5 valuable points to help lead the girls’ track team to the 2019 district championship.
Kayla Ogburn has chosen to attend Taylor University to play soccer for the Trojans. Ogburn set the school record of single season assists (22) in 2019; and was voted as the player of the year for the MBC and the MVSSCA. She is a two-time OSSCA all-state second team girls’ soccer selection. Ogburn is also a three-time all-conference first team and two-time MVSSCA all-area first team honoree. In 2020, she led the MBC with 24 goals and 17 assists. Ogburn has earned three varsity letters in both soccer and basketball. She plans to study human physiology and preventive medicine while at Taylor University.
