Senior Kira Dashewich has been recognized by LaSertoma Club of Dayton with a Youth Service Award.
The award, presented at the 62nd Annual LaSertoma Awards on Wednesday, February 16, recognized 23 area high school students for their service to the community and included a commendation from the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.
Dashewich was nominated for the award based on the more than 400 hours of service she has provided to the greater Dayton community.
In addition to her role as a youth soccer coach for a 6- to 9-year-old club team, Dashewich has logged countless hours at Dayton Christian School acting as a teacher’s assistant to fourth grade teacher Heidi Hahn and industrial arts teacher Gary Recker. She has also assisted with small construction projects for the school such as the lockers for the athletic department, bookshelves for the preschool music room, and a LEGO Robotics competition table for the MakerSpace STEM room.

Dashewich will receive $50 to gift to the charity of her choice.
“Right now, I am not sure where that money will go,” Dashewich said. “It will probably go to some type of pediatric medical organization.”
Dashewich will pursue a nursing degree in the honors program at Anderson University this fall where she will start as a sophomore and also play collegiate soccer.
