Theater Department Earns  Accolades

The Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards and Showcase (MVHSTA) recently recognized the Dayton Christian Theatre Department for its extraordinary achievements during the 2022-2023 school year.  

The annual competition involved 26 area high schools and included perennial arts powerhouses such as Centerville, Springboro, and Stivers School for the Performing Arts.  The DC Theatre Department received 13 awards for our overall and individual student work, including an "Outstanding Play" Award for the fall production of "Life with Father." 

Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Life with Fatherfor their numerous awards for the fall production:  

Outstanding

  • Play – Overall Production
  • Lead Actor – Drew Starrett as "Father”
  • Lead Actress – Johanna James as “Vinnie”
  • Lead Actor – Luke McCarty as “Clarence Jr.
  • Supporting Actress – Zyra Crume as “Cousin Cora”

Merit

  • Play – Ensemble
  • Supporting Actor – Kyle Bettencourt as “Reverend Lloyd”
  • Supporting Actress – Quincy Bettencourt as “Mary Skinner”

Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat,which also earned outstanding and merit distinctions:

Outstanding

  • Supporting Actor – Kyle Bettencourt as “Reuben” and “Pharaoh”

  • Lead Actor – Luke McCarty as “Joseph”
  • Supporting Actor – Drew Starrett as “Simeon” and “Potiphar”

The DC Theatre Department fall production will be "Sense and Sensibility," which will run November 10-11 and November16-18.
